Prayer For The Wider Area:
News from David Zadok CWI, HaGefen Publishing
During the Gaza war with Hamas, we had many opportunities to witness to friends and neighbours. Eti in particular was able to share the gospel with our neighbours after one rocket landed in our street, only three houses away from us.
The receptionist at the garage where David services his car asked him to bring her some of the books published by HaGefen. She has come to know us and our publishing work and during the war days, she wished for something to read. Please pray for her and others who have heard the gospel or have been exposed to the message of the Bible.
Publishing Projects
During the year of 2008 we were able to publish nine different books, a record so far. For 2009 we have ten books in different stages of production, and we hope that we will soon be able to put them in the hands of the people despite the financial challenges we face. Joel & Amos by Baruch Maoz is to be published in cooperation with Grace & Truth congregation. Immanuel, a bible-story book for primary-school age, is finally ready for the printer. Let's Study the Gospel of Mark is being proof read and has been formatted and designed. The same is true of the children's catechism, Shoel uMeshiv. Other books are still being translated or edited.
We have been asked to publish two books for evangelistic campaigns that will take place in the spring, one for Russian speakers and another for Hebrew speakers. HaGefen will assist in coordinating the Hebrew campaigns that will involve various congregations from all over the country.
Seminars & Conferences
HaGefen continues to hold seminars for translators and editors. Two such have been planned for the first six months of the year, with more following.
In May we will conduct a seminar on evangelism, as part of David's work coordinating the Israel branch of the Lausanne Consultation on Jewish Evangelism (LCJE). In the seminar we plan to hold teaching sessions on reaching out with the gospel to different groups in society such as the New Age movement, Ethiopians, alcoholics and drug addicts, and soldiers.
