Patti Emerick has expressed her desire to confess the Lord Jesus Christ in baptism. Be sure to thank the Lord for these who he has given a heart for him.

An Observation
JC Philpot pointed out that while the apostle Paul was locked in the dungeon, beaten and opposed by sinful men, he sang praises unto God (Acts 16: 25.) Yet, while in the most commodious outward circumstances, the opposition from his own depraved nature caused him to cry, "O wretched man that I am! Who shall deliver me from the body of this death?" (Ro 7: 24.) We might add to Philpot's comments that it was Christ our Peace who delivered Paul in each case. By HIM therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name (Heb 13:15.)

GLORIOUS REST
Isaiah 11:10.
Our Lord and Savior, along with all the blessings we have in him are spiritual.
I. OUR LORD AND SAVIOR IS SPIRITUAL MAN. v10: And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse...Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is God AND Man. He said, "I am the Root and the Offspring of David" (Rev 22: 16.) Isaiah 11: 1 speaks of the Offspring out of Jesse's roots; verse 10 speaks of the Root from which Jesse grew (Ps 110:1; Mt 22: 41-45.) This is so important to you if you are a sinner because: Christ Jesus the Man offered himself through the eternal Spirit therefore the atonement we have received and our salvation is eternal (Heb 9:14; 10: 1-14.)

II. THE GOSPEL WE PREACH IS SPIRIT AND LIFE. v10: And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse which shall stand for an ensign to the people. The ensign is the flag raised (among other things) to declare victory, the war is over. Christ our Ensign was raised up on the cross (Jn 3: 14; Nu 21: 8, 9; 2 Cor 5: 21); Christ our Ensign was raised from the dead where he is now seated at Gods right hand (Jn 12: 32; Gen 49:10; Is 28: 5; Is 9:6.); now through the preaching of the gospel, the Word of God which liveth and abideth forever--Christ our Ensign--is raised up (Jn 6:63; I Pet 1: 23-25.) He SHALL stand.

III. THE CHURCH AND KINGDOM OF OUR LORD AND SAVIOR IS SPIRITUAL. v10:...to it shall the Gentiles seek. If the kingdom of God were temporal the Gentiles would have had no part in it. But this very word--the Gentiles shall seek--declares Christ's kingdom is not of this earth. Read Ephesians 2: 11-22 and notice in the first few verses that the distinction between Jew and Gentile was "in the flesh" but in Christ there is one new man, neither Jew or Gentile. This is the difference the blood of Christ has made for his people, called out of every nation. Christ Jesus said, "I am not of this world" (Jn 8: 23.) Christ said to his disciples "ye are not of the world" (Jn 15: 19; 17: 14, 16.) And he said, "My kingdom is not of this world" (Jn 18: 36.) God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth (Jn 4: 21-24; Ps 145: 13; 2 Pet 1: 11.)

IV. THE REST OUR LORD AND SAVIOR GIVES IS SPIRITUAL. v10:...and his rest shall be glorious.
Glorious rest is rest found only in the glorious One--HIS rest shall be glorious. On all the glory shall be for a defense (Is 4: 5.) Glorious rest is everlasting--the glorious rest which God has called us into is eternal. (I Pe 5: 10.) Glorious rest is in glory--Christ our Rest is seated there now but when he appears then shall we appear in glory with him (Col 3: 1-3.)

Are you seeking Christ or carnal well-being? Is heaven Christ to you or streets of gold? Do you want to know Christ? Then seek HIM instead of the world (Luke 11: 9-13.) Believer never let this fading world discourage you. You are spiritual not carnal. (Ro 8: 9-12; Lk 12: 22-40; Ro 8:18.)

THE END OF ALL THINGS IS AT HAND--
I Peter 4:7
By Henry Mahan
The end of my life is near; I am sure of that; but also the end of this world is near. Our Lord will return, and most men who have some discernment of Divine truth believe that THE DAY OF THE LORD IS AT THE DOOR! Therefore, Peter exhorts us to be serious, be watchful, and call upon God in prayer for His mercy in Christ for ourselves, for our children, and for our kinsmen according to the flesh.

Above all things have a genuine and unfailing love for one another; for the love of Christ in us will overlook, disregard, and forgive the infirmities and failures of others. If we remember what we were and (except for God's grace) what we would be, and if we really care for the glory of our gospel and the welfare of others, we will forgive and overlook their infirmities. Love, generosity, and hospitality are the marks of grace and extend, not only to our families, but to our friends and fellow believers whom God brings our way. We rejoice to show mercy, for we have received mercy; and we rejoice to share with others what God has given us.

There is nothing which we have in nature or grace that is not THE GIFT OF GOD! Therefore, whoever preaches or teaches, let him declare the word according to the scriptures; whoever renders service, let him do it according to the ability and strength God has given him; whoever prays, sings, gives, witnesses, waits on tables, relieves the poor, visits and nurses the sick, or in any way contributes to the kingdom of God, let him do it with strength of purpose, out of love and gratitude to our Lord, and for His glory and the good of His church! "Even so, come, Lord Jesus" (Rev. 22:20).
