Thought For The Week:
"Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, And uphold me by your generous Spirit." Psalm 51:12
Prayer For The Church:
Please pray for God's blessing on the open air work yesterday. Pray that tracts may still be used to salvation.
Please pray continually this week for the ongoing challenges of each of the meetings. Pray that all may know the Lord's strength as they wait upon Him.
Pray for the preparations leading up to Holiday Bible Club, particularly for pastor as he prepares the talks and for those learning lines.
Prayer For The Local Area:
St John's Wood ‘Praise the Lord for the recent baptism of Jeremy, and the attendance of an older couple of Godly Christians. Pray that we would find effective ways of sharing the gospel in the community.'
Prayer For Wider Area:
Bible students bring hope to factory workers in India
Most of the people who live in the part of Jammu & Kashmir, India, known as "Industrial Area" work in factories.
Two student teams gave out several hundred tracts to workers from a rice factory and a glass factory. One of the factory owners became angry and abusive, warning the teams to leave. But in another area, the students were welcomed and invited to return. Since then, the team has started teaching classes for both adults and children. The Bible college students regularly help with academics as well as sharing about Christ.
"Please pray that God would open a way for us to share the Gospel with the 20,000 people who work here," the students wrote. "Pray that we will become a channel of blessing to bring these people into His fold."
BLYTHSWOOD HELPS PARAPLEGIC BEAT DEPRESSION AND DEPENDENCE
When Trendelina was involved in a car crash in 1998, not only her spine was damaged. Her self-esteem too suffered a crushing blow.
For two months the 16 year old lay in hospital, before being sent home without surgery, unable to walk.
Depression set in when she found herself entirely dependent on her mother. She became reclusive, wanting to hide from others and their attitude towards her disability. She would do nothing but watch TV and eat.
Trendelina was mentally and physically low when three years later she was offered a place at a centre for disabled people, run by God Loves Albania Ministries (GLAM), with support from Blythswood Care.
Two months of intensive work - counselling, life skills training, physiotherapy, Bible reading and prayer - meant she began to feel better and participated in the life of the centre. She made new friendships with the people around her.
Today, Trendelina is a transformed person, admired for her skills as an organiser and counsellor.
Now working as a school secretary, Trendelina is an inspiration to other paraplegics. "She is active and independent," Gesina says, commenting on her strong Christian faith and readiness to share it.
Without treatment at GLAM's centre, Trendelina would still be depressed and totally dependent on her mother. She would not have learned English and computer skills nor got a job.
Trendelina's ambition is to become a psychologist. With her experience she has a deep understanding of the challenges faced by people with disabilities.
