Dear Praying Friends:Here is a true story from last Friday, January 9, 2009.
Whose team are you on? I was waiting in line, having passed out a few tracts, while waiting for my check-up with my cardiologist, Dr. C. While there, I spoke with two other cardiologists and congratulated them on the team they have developed, five cardiologists including two interventialists, as well as a cardiac surgeon and team. They have come a long way since I had my heart attack three years ago.
My cardiologist is a fine man, friendly and competent. I have witnessed several times to him. He is a typical liberal, as I was before I got saved. He examined me and gave me a clear bill of health. When I told him I was praying for him, he said: "You know what I believe." I congratulated him on the cardiology team. He said that the cardiologists are different from the internists (I was in charge of teaching Internal Medicine there for five years, and had taught one of his collegues), because they are individuals, but the cardiologists are a team, and if you want to grow, you need a team.
Then I said: Dr. C., you have your team, and now you want God to join and bless your team. But God is calling you to come to Him His way, and join His team. He sat and thought. There is a difference, he said - actually, a big difference. "Yes," I replied: "it is the difference between heaven and hell."
Dear reader, whose team are YOU on? Have you given your life over to God, recognized that you are a lost sinner in need of a savior, and received Jesus Christ into your life as savior? Have you joined His team yet?
Brothers and sisters in Christ, let's join together in praying not only for my cardiologist, but also the many people who think that through good works they can have God "join their team" and bless their works. Let's pray that they will join His team instead, and that we will spend eternity together as members of God's team.
