Today we were blessed to return to the Jehovah's Witness conference at their lunch break, just in time to preach the Gospel for a good hour to several hundred attendees. While I was preaching a city bus parked on the street behind me. The lady driver got out and listened for a little while and then approached one of our men in tears, asking for prayer. After thirty minutes my voice began to fade a bit so I closed my message with an exhortation to repent of following the false Christ of the Watchtower and to turn to the genuine Jesus Christ of Revelation 5:12-13, who is worshipped as God at the right hand of the Father even now. Derek then stepped up to the pulpit (a grassy knoll) where he pled with the Jehovah's Witnesses to look unto Jesus as King of Kings and Lord of Lords, placing their hope in His finished work on the cross. With shaking hands and a voice strained with emotion he held forth for about fifteen minutes, reasoning from the Scriptures. After a brief rest he returned to deliver two more messages calling the crowds to turn away from their own Watchtower works of supposed righteousness, and to believe upon Christ and His righteousness.
We attempted to engage several individuals in discussion and found that most ignored us entirely. The few who stopped to talk were quickly escorted away by watchmen. One couple entered into a Gospel conversation with us and I warned them that they would soon be interrupted and told that they couldn't talk with us. They didn't believe me. We continued to converse in a friendly manner for another minute or so until (you guessed it) two men came from the crowd and told them that the conference would be starting soon and they should get back inside. They looked slightly agitated and surprised as they submitted to the controls of the Watchtower cult. These people are not our enemies. They have truly been taken captive by the enemy and bound up under doctrines of demons. Pray with us that their eyes would be opened by the Light of the World... Jesus.
Rom 10:14-17 How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written:
"How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace,Who bring glad tidings of good things!"
16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, "LORD, who has believed our report?" 17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
