Thought For The Week:
"For the LORD gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding.
Proverbs 2:6
Prayer For The Church:
Pray for Ruth and Mona as they seek employment.
Pray for Elaine that the Lord will keep her and the baby in safety.
Pray for Mark and Marilyn. Particularly pray that as Mark uses some of this time as "sabbatical leave" in reading and study, that He may be richly blessed and equipped for the ministry in the days ahead.
Let us remember to be in prayer during the week at the appropriate times for the various outreach activities.
Prayer For The Local Area:
Colchester The church correspondent writes: ‘Thank God for the encouragement of baptisms of two young people. Pray for continuing effectiveness of our evangelistic outreach over the year; especially a developing men's ministry.'
Prayer For The Wider Area:
Bill & Jennifer Hale - Serving in Cambodia
The work here with the churches and in the school has been going very well.
Our progression in learning the language is moving along nicely, though we probably need another full year of study and practice before we can really minister in the native Khmer language freely.
In the last year Cambodia has been steadily improving its infrastructure. The roads are much better now and we also have access to 24 hour power and city water.
We have however seen a hardening toward the Gospel in the Cambodian government this year which has removed some freedoms we had to evangelize.
The Prek Ambel Training Center
Please be in prayer for the PATC! We continue to provide a cost free program which includes housing, food, medicine, books, as well as Bibles and hymn books. The school's growth has created a good problem; we need more money for operations.
Currently, the PATC operates primarily from local gifts and offerings. However, costs are rising rapidly in Cambodia, especially groceries, which is making it difficult.
Current and Outreach Opportunities
Kampot Province - Southeastern Cambodia - We have continued to make contacts in the area about 10 kilometres away from Sre Treng. After our introductory meal with the village chief the door has remained open to preach the gospel. Pastor Ngan is now having a weekly meeting in this village to share the word of God and answer questions.
Batdambong Province - Northwestern Cambodia - Our meeting with Mrs. Ta Ree went very well. She and her husband were very receptive to some ideas we had. We have set an action plan for the Bible "study" group to follow in the future. We will supply a CD player an CDs with Pastor Chheng's sermons which they will use for their weekly services.
There are about 6 groups which are meeting without a pastor at present and we are hoping to provide them with some leadership and oversight in the future. Many of our students come from this area and after completing their course of study at the PATC we hope to send them back to the area to help with the work of the Gospel, which is something they are eager to do!
