“Coffee with Christ”

(1 Timothy 6:6-10)

“But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evil:”

A friend of mine died at 3:00am this morning. Brian was 44 years old and had a massive heart attack I was told. He had had a rough time of it the past few years but was looking forward to waking up this morning and striving to make the rest of his life better. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was happy in his faith and hope for the future. He had found the great gain spoken of in the above scriptures. He didn’t have much in this world and what he had materialistically he had to leave behind. You can’t take it with you when you go is certainly true according to these verses. There are many in who believe that success in this world is measured by the things that you have. Money, fortune and fame. The riches of this world set a snare for many people in this life, especially the young. Always remember, success is not measured in what you have, but who you know! I am thankful that Brian put his hope in Christ and not in the things of this world. I hope that you will do the same.
