"I took notice that now poor Christian was so confounded, that he did not know his own voice; and thus I perceived it. Just when he was come over against the mouth of the burning pit, one of the wicked ones got behind him, and stepped up softly to him, and whisperingly suggested many grievous blasphemies to him, which he verily thought had proceeded from his own mind. This put Christian more to it than anything that he met with before, even to think that he should now blaspheme him that he loved so much before; yet, if he could have helped it, he would not have done it; but he had not the discretion either to stop his ears, or to know from whence these blasphemies came."

We see here, that there exists the ability for a demon to whisper things into the ears of a Christian: so much so, that one thinks that these thoughts proceed from our own selves; or more accurately, our own consciences'.

We must examine ourselves constantly and GUARD OUR MINDS. The regenerate will learn (if they haven't learned already), that the spirit DOES INDEED act, and think apart from the body (how this occurs, that is, the process of it, I am unable to detail: God knows).

We know what we seek to achieve, as Christians. To be fully committed to pleasing The Lord Jesus Christ AND being obedient to God (Obeying His Voice).

Jer 7:23 But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you.
Jer 11:4 Which I commanded your fathers in the day that I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, from the iron furnace, saying, Obey my voice, and do them, according to all which I command you: so shall ye be my people, and I will be your God:
Jer 11:7 For I earnestly protested unto your fathers in the day that I brought them up out of the land of Egypt, even unto this day, rising early and protesting, saying, Obey my voice.

When these blasphemies come into our minds, we should measure their source. If it's contrary to our mission objective, then we know it comes from those who are our enemies. (1 John 4:1).

Science has told us for decades, that those who "hear voices", are "crazy"... don't believe the "psychiatrists", or their god, "science".

This is the war in the mind that the Apostle Paul warned us about in Ephesians 6:10-18.

Be on your guard at all times, my friends... this war, is a long one. Keep in mind to AVOID DISTRACTIONS wherever you may find yourselves.

A distraction is anything that diverts your attention from the Lord Jesus Christ and that which is given for our instruction, the Word.
