HYMN OF THE DAY
Jesus, since I with Thee am one, confirm my soul in Thee,
And still continue to tread down, the man of sin in me.
Let not the enemy prevail, in this my feeble hour,
0 frustrate all the hopes of hell; redeem from Satan's power.
Arm me, 0 Lord, from head to foot, with righteousness divine;
My soul in Jesus firmly root, and seal the Savior Mine.
When overwhelmed with sore distress, out of the pit I cry,
On Jesus suffering in my place, help me to fix mine eye.
When marred with tears and blood and sweat, the Precious Savior lay
And in my stead, sustained the heat, and burden of the day.
The pangs which my weak nature knows, are swallowed up in thine,
How numerous the ponderous woes, how few, how light are mine.
O might I learn of Thee to bear, temptation, pain, and loss!
Give me a heart inured to prayer. and fitted to the cross.
Make me 0 Lord, thy patient child, Thy language mine shall be;
"Father, thy gracious will he done, I take the cup from Thee."
While thus my soul is fixed on Him, once fastened to the wood,
Safely, I pass through Jordan's stream, and reach the realm of God,
And when my soul mounts up to keep, with Thee the marriage feast,
I shall not die, but fall asleep, on my, Redeemer's breast.
Tune: “My Faith Has Found A Resting Place” #228
THE PROMISES OF GOD
For all the promises of God IN HIM are yea and IN HIM amen, unto the glory of God (II Cor. 1:20) It is a wonderful thing that the Sovereign, immutable God of Heaven would make promises to the fallen sons of Adam. But He has promised forgiveness of sin, eternal Life, justification before His own glorious person. He has promised to receive sinners. To give them a new nature, a new heart and to give them a perfect standing in His own presence and to make them perfect and complete.
There is one thing we must be sure of concerning the promises of God and that is - ALL OF THEM ARE IN CHRIST. If you desire anything from God you must come to the Son, for He is heir of all things. “The Father loves the Son and has given all things into His hands” (Jn.3:35). God has given His Son Jesus Christ all authority both in heaven and in earth. He has said, “This is my Beloved Son, hear Him.”
“If you desire forgiveness of your sin, to have a clean conscience and a perfect standing before God, there is but one way to receive the promises of God. That one way is for you to come to Christ in faith, casting your soul upon Him - trusting Him with your very eternal soul and well-being.
God always makes good on His promises for He cannot lie. There are two sides to God’s promises just as there are two sides to a sword. He has said “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him” (Jn. 3:36) All the promises of God are “yea” and “amen” IN CHRIST! - Pastor
FREE WILL OR PREDESTINATION
Free will is responsible for every evil in the world. All sin is the result of free will. Free will is why the first murder was committed. It's responsible for all war, and has produced every false religion. Free will is the doctrine of the sovereignty of man. Predestination is the doctrine of the sovereignty of God. If believed, it will abolish all race problems and rid us of all tyranny and war. “Now therefore our God we thank thee and praise thy glorious name” (1 Chron. 29:10-14). - Scott Richardson
GOD IS FAITHFUL
I am so thankful that salvation depends on God’s faithfulness not on my weak, fickle faithfulness. What a blessing to be able to trust the Lord who is faithful in all things. He is faithful to His covenant (Deut. 7:9). He is faithful to His Word (II Kings 10:10). He is faithful to His promises (Heb. 10:23). He is faithful every day and at all times (Psalm 92:2). He is faithful to give grace in every trial (I Cor. 10:13). He is faithful to establish His people on Christ the foundation of faith (II Thess. 3:3). The Lord’s faithfulness gives peace to those who trust Him even on their deathbed (II Sam. 23:5). - Frank Tate
Private prayer is very important. Private devotion is very important. However, the gathering of God’s people together to worship the Lord is far more important. Psalm 87:2 “The LORD loveth the gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of Jacob.”
Let us love what our LORD loves more than all else, our gathering together to worship Him in Spirit and in truth.. - John Chapman
“Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.”
Gal 6:2.
“We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.” Rom 15:1.
To bear is to carry, take, hold, tolerate, or possess as our own.
Burdens are worries, problems, responsibilities, obligations.
Infirmities are weaknesses, sickness, disorders, diseases, sin.
If we truly bear one another’s burdens and infirmities, it will not be pleasant or pleasing to our flesh. But it will fulfil the law of Christ- bringing us in remembrance that He bore our sin in its entirety, under the wrath of God, in His body on the tree for us. This is why the yoke of Christ for the believer is light and easy. - Kevin Thacker
