HYMN OF THE DAY
Not all the blood of beasts
On Jewish altars slain
Can give the guilty conscience peace
Nor wash away the stain.
But Christ, the heav'nly Lamb.
Takes all our sins away,
A sacrifice of nobler name
And richer blood than they.
My faith would lay her hand
On that dear head of Thine,
While like a penitent I stand
And there confess my sin.
To our Redeemer, God,
Wisdom and pow'r belongs,
Immortal crowns of majesty
And everlasting songs.
Tune: “Blest Be the Tie That Binds” pg. 187
“Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find?” Proverbs 20:6
Love … “Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth”
Love does not rejoice in iniquity, either in self or others. It does not rejoice in others falling and having their sin exposed. Love rejoices in the Truth. Christ is the Truth and the Truth is that everybody Christ died for has no sin to be exposed. They stand before God without sin! That is the Truth! That is something to rejoice in! - Todd Nibert
“Love… thinketh no evil” - I Corinthians 20:6
The word “thinketh” is the word generally translated impute or reckon. It means literally that it keeps no records of wrongs done. That is certainly true with regard to the Lord’s love to His elect. There is no record in heaven of the many wrongs they have done! If I keep a record of the wrongs done to me, I am not practicing love! Love keeps no record of wrongs. And what a blessing it would be to keep no record of wrongs! The person who does so is a much happier person! - Todd Nibert
CHARITY SHALL COVER THE MULTITUDE OF SINS
“Above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins” (I Peter 4:8). And we do all have a multitude of sins. James said, “In many things we offend all” (James 3:2). If I love you, I realize you are like me, a person with a multitude of sins. I do not excuse my sin, or yours. But if I love you I will cover your sins, just like I do not want mine to be exposed. “Love covereth all sins” (Proverbs 10:12), and “He that covereth a transgression seeketh love” (Proverbs 17:9). I am so thankful for His love that has covered my sins with the precious blood of His Son. Oh, that I might be the one who covers, who remains silent, who does not seek to expose my brother’s sin. To do so is contrary to love, for “Charity shall cover the multitude of sins.” - Todd Nibert
“The opposite of love is not hate, it is self". - Tim James
The Believer is a man who is living proof that the Son of God succeeded in His purpose of coming into this world. - Martin Lloyd Jones
“Fear not" is in the Bible 365 times - once for each morning we face each year. What a way to start each day! - Copied
“We can give without loving, but we cannot love without giving.” - Alexander Duff
BEHOLD A JUDGE WHO WEEPS
Some time ago I was sitting in a court room watching a Judge deal with several of his subjects; he was very cold toward them and had mercy on none. I thought of these scriptures, John 11:35 “Jesus wept” and Heb. 4:15 “For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.” I thought behold a Judge who weeps and a Priest who can be touched with the fillings of our infirmities. O let us thank God for this Judge who receives sinners and eats with them, weeps with them and prays for them.
If we would remember that we live among people who are imperfect, we would not be in such a fever when we discover one another’s failings. Old cloth will tear and cracked pots will leak. Blessed is he who expects nothing of poor flesh and blood, for he will seldom be disappointed. The best of men are only men at best. - C. H. Spurgeon
