The idea of the church as a place for pilgrims to meet, perhaps in a barn, perhaps in a warehouse, must be forsaken utterly. Build the finest edifices money – a lot of it – will buy. Compete with the most eloquent of architectural wonders your city has ever built.

Let the building itself speak of your extravagant and bountiful God and the abundant lifestyle He wants all of His children to live. Pilgrims indeed! God’s people are kings and conquerors and deserve to have the very richest blessings that this life offers.

Let your people know of rich Abraham and rich Job and the riches of David and especially Solomon. Let these be the models for individuals to emulate, not the wandering prophets, or those dressed in sheepskin or living in caves and holes in the ground (The so-called roll-call of the faithful in Hebrews 11)

It is true that some of your lesser able saints will sacrifice greatly to create your neighborhood wonder, but they will be happy that they gave from their poverty to make the church rich. And in our culture there are many government agencies that will care for the poor when they have given so freely to the work of the Lord. Don't worry so much about them.
