Be careful not to teach Biblical literalism overmuch.

That is, the leadership must not make the people feel that every word of God is “Gospel truth”. People do not want to hear certain Biblical facts. Sin, and death and hell for example, make people nervous and uncomfortable.

People are experiencing enough discomfort by reading the news etc. Here at your MEGA church, all must be rosy and happy and positive. It is not that you will deny Scripture. There are just certain portions you will not mention at all.

And to let people know your leader is well-read, he should drop quotes from well known psychologists and politicians and entertainers. Film clips of relevant movies should be interspersed throughout the message and congregants should be encouraged to watch the entire Hollywood production on their own.

Your people will begin to feel that church is safe and non-threatening. They will be able to check off of their moral to-do list the fact that, yes, they do go to church. It will probably never occur to them that their church is merely an extension of their culture and that, that is the reason they are so comfortable
