That old church of your parents was involved in meaningless rituals and customs. They had to have a piano. If they could afford it, an organ. They sang those old hymns, centuries old. Many of them were using the Lord’s name in vain every Sunday by mouthing those old ways...

Your new church must abolish all old rituals.

Yes, replace them with new rituals. The piano must go. The organ must go. In their place, two to three guitars, electric. A keyboard. A set of drums, the louder the better.

The artists must never wear “dress-up” clothes. Patched jeans, shorts in the summer, old tee-shirts, a baseball cap. And none must be over 25.

Though the selection of songs is now much smaller, the people will get used to singing them repeatedly. And speaking of repetition, be sure to sing each song about 15 times, so the people will know what they are saying. And of course, if the older people decide not to sing the new liturgy with you, let the band play on anyway. The noise coming from the front of the church building is what matters. Quality. Loud. Modern.

Some will argue that the music you now pay for is supporting false teachings of the music makers. This is just evidence of jealousy and Pharisaic behavior on the part of those who are attached to the old ways. Ignore criticism. The new liturgy must prevail. Even if it seems that people are still using the Lord’s name in vain as they repeat and repeat and repeat.
