Reasons Why We Should Not Envy The Wicked - Proverbs 3:32
Today Dr. Solomon teaches us why we should never envy the lawless. The reason we should not envy or choose the way of the wicked is because it brings the loathing of God rather than His friendship. Proverbs teaches us how to live in such a way that we please God. If we choose the way of wicked men, then we become abominable in the eyes of God. To be abominable in the eyes of God means that God looks at wickedness with contempt and disdain.
But in contrast, God bestows His friendship to the righteous. This special relationship is reserved only for the upright. James teaches us - know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God (James 4:4). Do you desire to be a friend of God? Then you need to recognize that not just anyone can be a friend of God. Only those who pursue righteousness can claim this privileged status. Solomon give us this nugget of wisdom to warn us against embracing a wicked lifestyle and pursuing after righteousness. If we have ears to hear, then let us choose wisdom.
