What Kind of Home Does God Bless and Curse? - Proverbs 3:33

Here we have another reason for why we should not envy the wicked. Consider what Solomon is teaching us. If you should choose to envy the wicked (for whatever reason), Solomon tells us you are looking at, not only a cursed individual, but their household is cursed. We should never envy an individual when God's curse rest upon them. Since the wicked individual is a transgressor of the law, they are under the curse of the law. This text should sober us, because our sin not only impacts us, but there are consequences that impact our family as well.

In order to encourage us towards wisdom, Solomon further teaches us that God blesses the home of the upright. The upright are blessed in that they have the imputed righteousness of Christ, their sins are forgiven, and the Holy Spirit dwells within them. Therefore, the house of the upright are blessed because it contains the presence of God.
