Wisdom Offers Good Gifts - Proverbs 1:23

In contrast to foolishness, wisdom offers good gifts - specifically three good gifts.

First, wisdom offers a rebuke. Wisdom is pleading with the fool, the simpleton, and the scorner to receive the rebuke. Wisdom says - you need to be rebuked; this is good for you. There are few who are willing to receive a rebuke. Our nature wants to defend and justify, not submit to a rebuke. But wisdom teaches us that a rebuke is good for us. Are you convinced that a rebuke is good for you? Wisdom says - learn to receive a rebuke.

Second, wisdom says receive my spirit. If we will receive the rebukes of wisdom, she will pour out her spirit within us. Remember, the New Testament teaches us that Christ is wisdom personified. There is no greater gift than to have the Spirit of Christ poured out in us.

Third, wisdom says - I will give you my words. If we will heed the rebuke of wisdom, then we will grow in wisdom as the word of wisdom is given to us.
