Taking Dominion Through Wisdom - Day 14 Who Does Wisdom Cry Out To? - Proverbs 1:22
Here we see the audience of wisdom - she cries out to fools. Here we have the gallery of fools portrayed to us. We have the simpleton, the scoffer, and the fool.
The simpleton is one who is naïve and ignorant. The simpleton is one who is too lazy to learn. It takes no effort to be a simpleton. To be clear, it is not an accomplishment to be a simpleton. The text says they love and are content in their simplistic state.
The scoffer is one who openly mocks God's wisdom. The scoffer is not simply disinterested in God's wisdom, the scoffer hates it. Furthermore, they hate those who desire to apply godly wisdom. The scoffer, according to the text, delights in mocking God and His wisdom.
The fool according to the Hebrew is a troublesome person (they are a troubler of men). These are individuals who are intent on causing problems and trouble follows them wherever they go. But notice, the fool hates knowledge. The fool always has opinions, but it is not based upon knowledge. Unfortunately, the church is full of individuals who do not have time to read God's Word, but have plenty of opinions.
We need to examine ourselves in this area. We need to refrain from bringing this curse into the church. The church does not need additional simpletons, scoffers, and fools. The church needs Christians who are committed to pursuing wisdom and encouraging others to do likewise. We need to pray that God would give us ears to hear the call of wisdom.
