If we would be mindful of God we must be mindful and trusting that He is the God of truth.

Truth is reality.

God, of course, is the ultimate reality. I Am is His name, His identity. He is Being. He is Being in Himself, has life in Himself.

He is, always as been, always will be what and Who He is. He is forever, infinitely true, the true God.

When Scripture speaks of God being the God of truth and abounding in truth it refers especially to His being true to Himself in His dealings with His creatures. Scripture calls God’s being true to Himself His faithfulness. Sinners may deny God, and show themselves faithless and false, but

He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself (2 Tim 2: 12, 13)

For He is Lord God of truth.

Thus God reveals Himself as truly God, the ultimate reality and faithful to Himself, always God, in creating a universe outside of Himself, by saying Let there be. The new, “created reality,” though not God, is of God, and declares, by its very existence, its Maker and His glory (Psalm 19:1, 2).

The true God reveals Himself as true to Himself as Holy and as Judge, and true to His Holy Word as Judge, when in the beginning He says to Adam in the day that you eat of it you shall die (Gen 2:17), and then, true to His Word, executes the death sentence when sinless Adam sins.

This true God reveals Himself, wonderfully, as the God, the truth, the God of truth of our salvation.

He reveals Himself, truly and fully, as abounding in goodness and truth in Jesus Christ, truth incarnate. He is the true God with us, and grace and truth have come, have been fully revealed in Him (John 1: 17).

In our day there is much bad news, much fake news, much that is not true, unfaithful reporting of the reality of God, His counsel, His sovereignty, His goodness, His wisdom, His righteousness, His love.

No one seems to care for or admit the truth of God, the God of truth in this pandemic.

Comes seeping, all this news, from left and right, under our doors, into our homes, factoid fumes clouding our minds, leaving us gasping for air, dying the slow death of hopeless untruths, lies.

The plague of godless men and media. A plague worse than the plague.

What to do? Think on the truth from above revealed in the true Savior, divine, in the true Scriptures, Lord God of truth’s Word divine, the truth God is saying now to His sin-plagued, news-tossed people:

I love you

For such a time as this.
