Many dear souls are meeting together today in Baptist churches all across our land, only to hear a sermon about how they must live and what they must do for God in order to be accepted of Him, to be pleasing to Him, and to earn for themselves heavenly crowns and rewards. It is my great privilege to declare unto you what great things God has done for you in Christ, to make you accepted and pleasing to Him; which makes you desire to know and do His will, not for rewards, but as an expression of love, worship and thanksgiving.

WE PREACH CHRIST CRUCIFIED
I Corinthians 1:22-24: “For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:
but we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;
but unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
Nothing has changed from Paul’s day to our day. The Greeks are the smart, academic religious people who still use philosophy and wisdom that makes sense to man’s natural understanding to prove their doctrine is true. The Jews are the religious people who still use miracles and religious ceremony that makes them feel good to prove their doctrine is true.
But God’s preachers still preach nothing but Christ crucified. Preaching Christ crucified involves much more than declaring that Jesus Christ died on a cross. Preaching Christ crucified is declaring for whom Christ died (for God’s elect), why Christ died (to put away the sin of His people to enable God to be both Just and Justifier), and what Christ accomplished in His death (the eternal salvation of all those the Father gave to Him). Those with God given faith want nothing more or less than the preaching of Christ crucified. To those who have God given faith nothing else makes sense to the head and nothing else comforts the heart other than Christ crucified.

THE GRACE OF GIVING
The average person who gives money, gifts, or charity to others may think that this gift of whatever he gives should be regarded as loss, certainly not called assets, nor investments, nor gain. That is not so! Gifts, money, and alms given to others is no more loss than the seed planted by the farmer is loss. Anything given to others in the name of Christ, for the glory of our Lord, is not loss, but gain in every way. Our Lord said in Luke 6:38, “Give and it shall be given to you…for with the same measure that you give withal it shall be given to you.” This is saying that God uses the same container or measure for our gifts to us as we use for our gifts to others. The more generous the farmer is with his seed, the greater the harvest; and the more generous and loving and giving we are enabled to be, the greater the blessing. No! Giving is not a loss, but a great gain. A person may say, “I cannot afford to give.” If we have an understanding of the grace of God, we cannot afford not to give.
