IT IS WELL WITH MY SOUL
I love to be in a congregation singing the song It Is Well With My Soul. But how can a sinner sing that song and mean it? Only in Christ. It is well with my soul if Christ took my sin away from me and died to put those sins away under His blood. If my sin is gone, my sin can never condemn me. It is well with my soul if Christ was punished for my sins as my substitute. God will never punish me if Christ was already punished for me. It is well with my soul if I am justified by faith in Christ not my failed works of the law. It is well with my soul if the Holy Spirit has given me faith in Christ because “whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die” (John 11:26).

Good works do not come by the preaching of good works, good works are only produced in sinners by the preaching of Christ and Him crucified.

What are our Distinguishing Points?
Have you noticed among the sects that their special, distinguishing points are their power and cause for existing? When these points are omitted or compromised, they dwindle out.
For example, CATHOLOCISM without the human priesthood, the confessional, and the mass would be dead. Likewise, THE CHURCH OF CHRIST without baptism, PENTACOSTALISM without emotionalism, gifts, and healing, and the ADVENTIST without Saturday would all be sterile!
Let us, who preach the gospel, learn that if Christ is left out of our message, WE HAVE NO MESSAGE! If free grace is left out of the gospel, the gospel is gone. We readily admit that the grace of God in Christ is our forte! If we do not preach Christ, we have no reason to exist as preachers, churches, or missionaries.

ABSOLUTE ASSURANCE
The believer in the Lord Jesus knows with absolute assurance that for him to have any hope of eternal life, the Father had to have chosen him in Christ before the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4). He's absolutely sure that he is a sinner and that for his guilt to have truly been put away, his sin had to have been dealt with in Christ his Substitute (2 Corinthians 5:21) and now, shall never be charged to him (Romans 8:1). He's absolutely sure that the perfect life that Christ lived as his Representative and Surety is now and shall forever be his only righteousness before God (Romans 4:6-7). And he's absolutely sure, having come to Christ by faith, he shall forever be with the Lord (John 17:24).
Pastor Marvin Stalnaker
An aged Christian, lying, on his deathbed in a state of such extreme weakness that he was often entirely unconscious of all around him, was asked the cause of his perfect peace. He replied, "When I am able to think, I think of Jesus; and when I am unable to think of him, I know he is thinking of me."
