Psalms 126:5-6 They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing bringing his sheaves with him. In making spiritual application in these verses the psalmist on his way to the victorious spiritual life realizes his responsibility to sow the Word of God. But he cannot sow any way he likes. He must sow God's way!
1. He cannot sow just any seed, but precious seed. The word precious carries the idea of being very valuable. There is not a seed on earth more valuable than God's Word. The foundation of spiritual success is in sowing the precious Word of God.
2. We are to sow weeping and in tears. I am convinced this is the missing link in our modern day sowing of God's Word !
3. We are to sow "going forth". We are not to wait on sinners to come to us, but we have the responsibility to go to them with the gospel. Sowing is a "going" activity
Then we see the results of godly sowing:
1. Personal joy (v6)
2. Additional work - reaping (v5)
3. A sure and personal harvest (i.e. doubtless and his v6)
4. Praise (rejoicing v6)
The victorious Christian life cannot be a life of idleness, but one occupied with sowing God's Word to a lost and dying world.
