"No Fear in Love" I John 1:18 & I John 4 The epistle of John is laced with the subject of love. In a world of horizontal, filial, and emotional love and a utilitarian love, Paul speaks of a different love. The love in Christ that pertains to only the child of God! Where there is love there is NO FEAR! There can be no fear in love and if that is not the case it has not been perfected! A very bold statement!
Fear has torment and therefore has no place in love. Fear is always the torment we have for a negative consequence. This word torment in scripture is really translated into the word punishment. The anticipation of punishment always works torment. Love is ALWAYS absent of fear. You can even go further and know that love casts out fear! Being justified, how or why should we fear as we have the love of Christ Himself which is perfected in us as we are justified and we have no fear! When fear rules and gets in between relationships it has not been perfected.
How can we know this to be fact? The short answer is in the confidence of faith! The spiritual knowledge whereby we can press the Word of God to us and we are confident and have no fear! We have nothing to fear and we are not always in the sphere of the love of God in Christ??? If the love of God is there...you cannot have fear! Why be afraid? We know the love of God in Christ which is the work of the living God through faith in our hearts. The same concept can be taken into EVERY relationship in this world that the child of God has also. We have the CALLING that our relationships stand in that love of Christ. The love of Christ should always reflect in our relationships. The love of Christ is NEVER compromised either!
Fear IS a terrible thing! Fear torments us and rings out our souls and even robs us of the calm serenity we have in that love. We focus on the things in life and we sink like Peter. That is why we are FIRM in our conviction and along with those convictions have no fear in that love! We ought to emulate and show the very depth of God's love in everyone of our relationships and no matter what we endure that love LASTS...does not change or fade!
We have that love of Christ. No fear but only the confidence that in it we are perfected to the glory of God. And yes, we are certain and sure!!!
