I have loved to hear my Lord spoken of; now I am going to see Him. I have seen the print of His shoe on the earth; now I am going to sit at His feet. I have read His Word; now I am going to hear His voice. I have beheld His world; now I am going to dwell in His heaven where sin can never enter. John Bunyan
The gospel of man’s ruin in Adam, the redemption of God’s elect in the Lord Jesus Christ, and the regeneration of those dead sinners by the Holy Spirit is so simple a child can understand it, but the best minds can never believe it until God gives the gift of faith in the heart.
SAVING FAITH IS SUPERNATURAL
Saving faith does not come naturally to our flesh. Faith is super-natural. Faith must be given from outside of our flesh. God must give the gift of faith (Eph. 2:8). Faith cannot come by physically seeing the glory of Christ. Faith comes from seeing Christ in the Word with the eye of faith. “For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount. We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts” (II Peter 1:16-19).
The difference between an unbeliever and a believer
An unbeliever believes his doctrine.
A believer believes God!
An unbeliever believes his father and grandfather.
A believer believes God!
An unbeliever believes the verses of scripture that support his denomination.
A believer believes God! (Every word that has proceeded out of His mouth!)
An unbeliever only believes what his mind can rationally understand.
A believer believes God! (If God said it, he knows it’s so; even if his simple mind hasn't comprehended it yet!)
A believer knows, loves, listens to, and sides with: The Lord Jesus Christ!
A believer believes God!
