This Lord's Day continues in the former. Believing the doctrines IS my righteousness before God! (Let that sink in for a while.) What are these good works then as spoken of in scripture? When we deal with good works we are dealing with SANCTIFICATION and are inherent in the child of God as a direct result of being justified FIRST and foremost. It is a life of thankfulness. We bare them as we are engraphted into Christ! The child of God, saved by grace, subjects all his members unto that word of God in thankfulness being sanctified.
The key is knowing what realm of salvation we are dealing with here. Defined are the good works. 1. In conformity with God, 2. Flow out of a true and living faith, 3. Are out of conformity with the law...the Word of God! Note too that good works can ONLY be in Christ and that they flow out of a person who has a lifeline in Christ. They flow and come from the new man in Christ! Although they are never part of our salvation, they must however be a part of us and are DEMANDED of us! We are HIS workmanship...ordained unto good works that we should walk in them. God gives us opportunities in our lives to buy them out to HIS glory. Yes, even though we only have a small beginning of that new principal in Christ. Nevertheless it is a PRINCIAL beginning! We are talking about the Holy Spirit's fruit IN OUT LIVES. They come out of the principal of faith and come from Him! That is why they are GOOD!!!
Why walk of a reward for works then? It is ALWAYS of GRACE and NOT merit. They are prayer, doing the right always, works in our relationships, and they are rewarded in this life and the life to come! In this life, God rewards (blesses) the child of God! And the opposite is true....one NOT walking in His ways finds trouble and despair. All of us have Heaven as our possession, but will not all be the same in heaven. He differentiates here below and so it will be in heaven! Let us then not be lethargic in this regard. God rewards ALL works and they determine our position in His heavenly abode.
It is INHERIANT. We find no rest when we grieve the Holy Spirit. There is no blessing.
Children of God are inclined to serve their Lord and God! He is engraphted into Christ and he bemoans sin. No making excuses for sin. Not justifying it, but BEMOANING it! He prays for help in this regard. I am the vine and we are the branches. We BRING FORTH GOOD FRUIT UNTO HIS GLORY.....Now and into all eternity giving Him the glory both now and forevermore!
