We will have one service on New Year’s Day beginning at 11 a.m.
Our sincere sympathy is extended to Christy Collins whose grandmother Ruth Keeler passed away last week.
Janet and I have finally cut the cord and gone wireless. We no longer have a home landline, so if anyone wants to reach us please call our cell numbers.
Election is sovereign – the purpose of God. The Bible reveals God to be sovereign in creation, providence, and salvation. When men object to God’s sovereignty exercised in election, we do well to point them to the apostle’s words in Romans 9:20-21, “Nay, but, O man, who are you to reply against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus? Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump, to make one vessel unto honor, and another unto dishonor?” Men have been told for so long that God is in their hands, it is no wonder that many are astonished to hear that the Bible says it is just the opposite

IS THE NEW BIRTH REALLY NECESSARY FOR SALVATION?
The new birth is the birth of a new spiritual man in the heart of every believer. This new spiritual man is born of God the Holy Spirit by the seed of the Word of God (I Peter 1:23).
Is the new birth really necessary for salvation? Absolutely it is! The new birth is just as necessary as the Father’s election and the Son’s substitutionary death as the sacrifice for sin. The new birth is so necessary, the Lord said in John 3:5, “Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.” The apostle Paul said the same thing in Romans 8:9, “Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.”
Where does that leave you and me? As dead sinners begging God to give us life in Christ.
Love for Others
Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. —Philippians 2:4
The failure of most preachers is not due to the fact that they do not have a pastor's head, voice, or energy; but because they do not have a pastor's heart! The failure of most church members and professing Christians to be a blessing to family, friends, and outsiders is not that they do not have the proper doctrine, the proper moral integrity, and enthusiasm for the truth; but because they don't have the proper attitude and love for others!
If you don't really love people (sinners and saints) they sense it; and not only will they not only love you they won't listen to you either! If you are not really concerned about the everyday problems and burdens of others they don't want to hear you talk about their spiritual problems! Most fundamental, separated, religionists whom I know are big head, big mouth, and small heart! They want to talk about “the things of the Lord”, but have little love or concern for the things of others. Don't blame all of your loneliness on the gospel; much of it is caused by your unlovely personality!
