"Buying the TRUTH!" Proverbs 23:23 (John 17 & II Timothy 3: 1-5 & 12ff)

Proverbs is a very practical book that speaks to the things of our lives and addresses them all in ways that we can EASILY understand. It's advice is always right on course as it is TRUTH being the Word of God. Truth is fundamental as it applies to everything both objectively and to those things not seen and seen only by faith. Truth is in short supply today and we find lying, deceit, and a lot that is NOT truth! Buy the truth and sell it not!

The commodity we are looking at is truth. The truth is that which is in accordance to FACT or REALITY. The veracity of what I testify of...not my commentary on, but the truth! The truth is far greater than the eye can see, what the camera can capture because it goes beyond what the naked eye can see. We believe by faith in heaven and hell which causes the divide between us and the world. The world only believes what they can see, but even the things that are seen by the world they cannot understand them correctly, as God has purposed them for. They are beyond in a realm they cannot see. The truth is not seen in the very things they see! They behold the majesty of God in the universe and creation yet do not see His Godhead in them. Truth is a matter of revelation. You have to have faith to see it....to believe it! (the intrical part.) Creation cannot be seen as in the light of RE creation by them. While we see creation as it glorifies it's Maker, future Glory, and the things that are "the Gospel Truth!" We must buy that truth!

We all understand what it means to buy and sell. But we aren't dealing with something tangible?! Like the parable of the man who finds a treasure in a field and sells everything he has to buy the field or the merchant man who sells all his assets for the pearl of great price! We too will sacrifice EVERYTHING we have for the truth of the Word of God! You cannot give to your children a more valuable and precious gift than the truth of the Word of God! But....it cannot be bought with money. It is priceless! It is given to us as He motivates us to have children and share that treasure with them. Not buying a bunch of Bibles...but the Word of God is well read by us, studied, and something we all steep ourselves with. The TRUTH of the Word of God! We meditate on it day and night that it may be part and parcel of our very being. The truth that safely leads! That is why our parents shared it with us and prayed about it often!

The possession of it should be FIRST and foremost in our families today and on all of our pulpits today. And we refuse to sell it because that possession is most precious. Costly to carry it from a carnal point of view in ridicule, division, and possibly your life like Able who was killed by Cain, Noah who received ridicule as he followed God's command. Like Daniel who refused to compromise the TRUTH and was thrown into the lions den or John the Baptist and others who were roasted and burned at the stake. The clouds even today are on the horizon and there is a "bulls eye" on the Christians back. But buy the TRUTH and do not sell it nor SELL IT OUT!!!
