We all spend much time seeking the approbation of and the pleasing of OTHERS. All from various reasons on the scale from doing it because we love all the way to because we seek a reward, or somewhere in between. Why are our lives spent for the pleasure of others? Perhaps we spend to much time being co-dependent?! We SHOULD spend more of our time being pleasing to GOD!
In this confession of Enoch we see that faith pierces and sees the realities that... are spiritual. It sees what the naked eye could not and cannot see. Faith also makes it possible to please God! It does so first by approaching God in faith and secondly in our trust that God will fulfill.
Only 4 small, short versus describe Enoch's entire life....yet it speaks volumes and is encapsulated in the one phrase "...an he walked with God..." He lived in very wicked days approximately 700 years before the flood and days of Noah. Great days of mockery from the world to the children of God even as Enoch lived antithetically against the world, seeing spiritual things while those around him had their noses to the ground. To walk with someone is to have deep communication, enjoyed fellowship, and share deep or perhaps the deepest concerns with one another. You arrive at your destination "before you know it" because of the fellowship being so enjoyed on the walk. Enoch did this with God and so do we! While others blasphemed God Enoch fell on his knees. He took God wherever he went and walked with God in CONSTANT fellowship and communion. That is our life! While others seek themselves and trample God under foot we continue to walk with God!
The very character of faith is believing and we believe WITHOUT doubt! All things become reality. We embrace them and they are the very things we hope in. God IS and God is a rewarder of those that diligently seek Him. (Those engraphted into Christ receive all His benefits.) Some speak of our "logical" leap we have and make by faith....can you imagine Enoch, Abraham, Noah, and the others?! KNOWLEDGE and CONFIDENCE!!! Enoch confessed that GOD IS! He knew God and lived in the consciousness of his fellowship with God in his faith. Do we seek God out? "A rewarder of those who diligently seek Him out." Perhaps Enoch began with the praise and thankfulness for God who set His love upon Him even though he was no different from those in the world around him?!
In faith we KNOW God and without doubt know God will answer every prayer and every need to build and guide us...that our walk with Him may be fruitful. Let's live close to God. Let us WALK with God! We let His Word and Spirit guide us until that one day when He will answer our ultimate desire and like Enoch who He scooped up, will take us to Glory!!!
