And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast. Rev.13:3 9:6 And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them14:9-10 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,:10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: -- 14:13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them. __ Rom 7:24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. 25A But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: Eph. 4:15 |

2 Chronicles is taken out of context when those who wish to apply it to modern day America quote it as though America is in a covenant with God. You cannot pull verses out of context and try to make them fit modern day America. I believe Frank made a valid point in stating God's people are scattered far and wide, so which land will God heal? From the link, http://midwestapologetics.org/blog/?p=462 -"These words were spoken to Solomon, the king of Israel, and God promised Solomon that when the land suffered from drought or pestilence, that if the people would humble themselves and pray, then God would hear those prayers and heal their land. The Lord specifically said that His eyes and ears would be attentive to the “prayer made in this place,” a reference to the temple in Jerusalem. As you continue reading the remaining verses in 2 Chronicles 7, it becomes extremely clear that this was a specific promise made by God to the Jewish people at the time of the first temple." It would help to read the verses prior to 13-14, otherwise you will not get the full context of who God was addressing. It would also help if, rather than resort to name-calling, some would be humble enough to accept the fact that they may very well be wrong in their understanding of the text at hand. |
