I thought the lunar eclipse that happened last week was supposed to be the sign of the end, according to a book that a TV-evangelist made some money on (I was going to say millions, but the book business is set up so that he probably only made pennies per copy sold). I also understand how a lot of people can get very excited about the End of the World, though it is also interesting that the different views on it (just read any comments posted here to get a taste of it, or better yet, do a web search for 'end of the world according to the Bible' and see what you get) never include any comments from Luther, Calvin, Early Church Fathers, etc. So I wonder, when did this become a Big Issue for so many? Of course, that leads to Dispensationalism that Darby promoted in the 1800s. I also find it interesting that the support by many evangelicals of the modern state of Israel (which only came into existence in 1948) is connected with the conservative political movement. That makes me think that politicians have found a way to get more votes--say they support the modern state of Israel. You can say one thing about Camping--the Lord came for him way before the End of the World. Was he ready? |
