terry evans wrote: ? for you Does a christian need to watch tv No, a Christian does not need to watch TV. Many would be better off without it. It's not necessary. I'd also question any preacher who says God told him we need to give a certain amount of money. God already laid out the financial rules in the scriptures. If we're not following those, it's because we don't know the scriptures or we choose to disobey what God has already said on the matter. If a preacher is speaking for God about money, it's very likely that person's ministry is messed up instead of the audience being messed up. |

Abigail, Paul was evidently aware of heresies then as now. Read the history of the Mormons(angels talking to Joseph Smith and then we have the Book of Mormon). Read about all the apparitions in Catholic experience(angels, saints, and so on telling people to do this or that, often times contrary to the scriptures). Galatians 4 clearly show the problem among the Galatians. Paul was grieved they were caught up in observances of days. The Roman church has all kinds of saints days, Christmas, Easter, etc. If you're Catholic you have to observe these or be declared in sin. See Gal. 4:10. Who went to hell? Unless the Apostle says who went to hell I can't give you an answer. Those who are accursed will be in hell. So that would include teachers of false gospels, angels with another gospel, etc. if that's what you're asking. Another gospel will not get one to heaven, so the only alternative......I think we know the answer . Concerning abstinence, see 1 Tim 4:3. It ties in well with Galatians and the whole Roman Catholic religion. Forbidding marriage is also in there. As for angels in Revelation, that's fine. That's the scripture record. But what do we do with modern claims, the Mormons and Catholics being examples. I'm not following them. |

Abigail wrote: The Galatians were pure saints in comparison to this modern generation. Taking a look at Galatians 1 and 4 it's evident the heresies plaguing the Roman and Orthodox Catholic churches were alive then also: Angels with messages, observing days, abstaining from certain foods, celibate clergy, etc. The Apostles called it another gospel and declared them accursed twice. But that's what happens when works and faith get confused. |
