Probably above all else, this is what the news article is showing. Because the message of the cross does not gain the world's attention, we exchange the "foolishness" of the message of the cross for just plain foolishness! This really does show how man's "wisdom" in trying to gain an audience is foolishness in the eyes of God. It does draw a crowd, but it doesn't make converts and disciples for the Lord Jesus Christ. God, save us from ourselves!

Hope,
You asked if I have sermons on this sight. No, I don't. Where you looking to see where I stood on an issue or what my thoughts might be on something? Maybe I can answer for you.
In regard to my statement about our country, I might ask if you think God is done with other countries like France or England? They have travel much further down the road of apostasy than the US has; is God done with them? So often we associate Christianity with patriotism, but only as it applies to OUR homeland. Is God donew with Israel? Or, as you did point out, is it that God is at work through the elect as a chosen nation of a heavenly origin? I guess that would be my view; God is at work through His church, regardless of where a particular nation might be in relationship to Him.

Good to hear there are still some out there who want the truth! I just finished preaching on revival (it started as one message and ended up going on for about 8 weeks!). The sad part is that so amny, even in our good fundamental churches, don't have a heart for revival. And I sum up revival as simply having a heart for God and pursuing Him with all we are. It seems that this would be the desire of every truly born again believer, and yet the love of so many has waxed cold! We need to pray for God's mercy and grace to be poured out on His church because the fields are white unto harvest. If we don't do it, who will?

I started to read some of the posts on this topic and saw just how far out in left field they were, so I quit. To try to get back on topic, this is what is wrong with the church today. We have biblically illiterate people in the pews because we have worldly entertainers in the pulpits! These folks should have been looking to throw this man out of the church so that they could find a Bible believing and preaching pastor. Oh, wait, they want it this way. Doesn't scripture say something about "itching ears"?

Thank you for your kind response. I do have to say, however, that your explanation of your persuasions has left me befuddled! Protestant covers a wide range of denominations with varying doctrinal positions. I am Baptist in doctrine, holding to the doctrines of grace when it comes to salvation. I lean toward the pre-wrath view of the return of Christ and hold to the view that God will fulfill His promises to Israel in the Millenium. Therefore, I agree with Jesus still when He said, "My kingdom is not of this world". That would be why I made the statements that I did. I do agrre with you that revival without reformation would seem to be an incomplete work, yet God can do as He chooses. Our nation may very well be done, as far as God is concerned, but He will never be done with His bride.

First, I want to thank you for the kind way in which you responded. So often it gets nasty.
Second, I am assuming that you come from a dominion theology perspective. If the church is going to take dominion, shouldn't it start within its own realm? We want to "christianize" America while the church is spiritually bankrupt. Would I like to see America return to its biblical roots? Absolutely! But it will only happen when the church returns to its first love, the Lord Jesus Christ. Then, and only then, will we see anything of lasting signifcance happen in our country. The church, not the media, is responsible for that.

Hello, everyone! It's been a while since I've posted, but I couldn't help myself here. Why do we expect any less from this newspaper or any other secular media in America? We as believers often find it difficult to stand for truth, so why cast stones at the secular press? Let's take the plank out of our own eyes first! If we as believers would stand up for truth we wouldn't have to expect the press to do it for us!

Hello, Lurker! I'm glad to see someone is willing to give a positive response (I received what I expected from Yamil). I do miss conversing with some of you, but I don't want to get caught up in the arguing and name-calling again. I will stop in from time to time to say hello, though. Thanks again, Lurker! Hello, everyone, and Happy New Year!
I thought I would check in to see how things were going here. It is so sad to see that JD and Yamil, in particular, are still choosing to call names and demean people. It is also sad to see that the same old nonsense is being bantered about. It breaks my heart to see so many saying others aren't saved simply because of a "tag" that you want to give one another. I notice that the most vitriolic still seem to be those opposed to Calvinism. I dare say that if those of you opposed to the doctrines of grace could, you would burn all Calvinists at the stake. Of course, that would make you just like the dreaded Calvin, who, by the way, was a sinful human being, just like the rest of us. I wish I could come back and have some civil discussion about things that really matter, but as I said, it seems things haven't changed. I'm sorry to see that. Good night, and God bless.

I know I haven't posted in a while, but I have been watching. My heart is grieved and broken to realize that I have been a part of the strife that is so prevalent on this site. God has convicted my heart on two things;1)the need to be more like Christ. That will not happen on this site. I think it is quite obvious why. 2)My time is better spent seeking revival in my own life that I may affect the lives of others, and see revival fires begin to burn their. To my dear friends on this site; Michael Hranek, David Shakespeare, Lurker, Seaton, Dessie, Jim Lincoln, Alan H, Albert, thank you for you input into my life and your patience with me. To JD, Yamil, Abigail, Spiritual; I don't agree with you on many things, but I apologize for my unChristlike attitude many times. Please forgive me. I will not be back on this site. I will be praying for each of you, and ask your prayers for me. The night is far spent, the hour is late, and there are many, as of yet, unsaved. The church is carnal, cold, and calloused. The need is for prayer and repentance. May we seek God's face while He may be found. May we not be ashamed at His appearing.

As one who adheres to the doctrines of grace, I still often read those of a different persuasion. I have recently been reading John Wesley. I don't know how many of you out there (from any of the theological camps) realize that his doctrine of prevenient grace has its source in the same place as the Calvinists irresistible grace. Wesley believed that if it were not for God's unmerited grace at work in the unbeliever, there would be no desire to even consider Christ. So, even though Wesley believed in free-will, he still saw the initiation of salvation as beginning with a move of God's Spirit upon the human soul. Of course, he believed this grace was shown to all, but still, he taught that it initiated with God. Interesting!

Abigail, don't try to hide behind words that don't apply. A rebuke is not showing hatred toward someone. Notice that I didn't use that verse to hide behind when you cast your hateful remarks toward me. Face up to the issue and don't hide behind misquoted scripture!

You are a slanderer and a liar. I have told you repeatedly that I NEVER separate faith from works of righteousness. The difference is the source. You find them in yourself, I find them in Christ. You owe an apology to every doctrines of grace individual on here for continuously misrepresenting our position for arguments sake. You also owe me an apology for throwing accusations and slandering me when you have NEVER once sat under my preaching to hear what I say. I repeat, you are a slanderer and a liar. According to your works based salvation, you'd better repent or you're going to Hell, by your own admission!!!

teenagemutantninjakitty, amen to your post. I was the same way when I grew up (I was saved at 13 in 1976), and I was even considered wierd back then. I'm now trying to raise my three teenagers the same way. The world AND the church give me a hard time about it. However, let no man despise your youth, but be an example to the adults, who should know better, and other teens. God bless you

Abigail, "I trust Him, and He will not let me fall." But your free will to fall away is greater than God's sovereignty, by your own admission. If you choose to fall away, He cannot stop you, by your own admission. You are trying to have it both ways again. That won't work. Either you keep you or He keeps you. Where will you put your trust?

WOMI, I won't be able to respond until I have had time to read and digest everything you've written. I do, however, want to thank you for addressing this issue in a way that is Christ-like. I have to say, I don't miss your sarcasm and nasty attitude. This new approach fits you well
