Dorcas wrote:
Since my name was brought up concerning the religion of Rome, let me state emphatically that I have never spoken against Roman Catholics personally except to say they are duped by the leaders of that pagan religion. It is not Christian.

so be it.
Sorry to put your name out there Dorcas, only I know Steve meant to revile you instead of Delores. I know you dont have any malice towards catholics.

SteveR,
It is not wicked to view the RCC antichrist considering its antichrist gospel and doctrines, but believe what you want.

Mr. Mcdonald asked the inhabitants of St. Kilda how a man must be saved. An old man replied "We shall be saved if we repent, and forsake our sins and turn to God." "Yes," said a middle aged female, "and with a true heart too." "Aye" rejoined a third, "And with prayer"; and added a fourth, "It must be the prayer of the heart." "And we must be diligent too," said a fifth, "in keeping the commandments." Thus, each contributing his mite, feeling that a very decent creed had been made up, they all looked and listened for the pastors approbation; but they had aroused his deepest pity: he had to begin at the beginning and preach Christ to them.

-Charles Spurgeon, from "Around the Wicket Gate"

I could be wrong, but I suspect that all this attention on the Ebola virus is an attempt by the liberal media to divert attention away from our border crisis.

J4J,

The verses you quoted were about physical Israel, I was speaking of spiritual Israel. Hope that helps.

Romans 9:6 Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel:

POT,

Thanks for the clarity, I thought that perhaps you misunderstood me. Sorry if I seemed harsh.

Have a blessed day.

SteveR,

You may owe Delores an apology, because I cant think of one time she has ever posted anything derogatory about the RCC. Maybe you have her confused with Dorcas who (rightly imo) has expressed her disdain for the RCC.

PursuitofTruth writes:
Dear GSTexas,

Apparently you do not, and cannot understand the sovereignty of God because you're to full of yourself to understand that you don't have to understand it for it to be true.

How did you come to this baseless conclusion? I simply posted my disdain for the fatalistic antinomianism that some have fallen for. The elect obey scripture (John 14:21). If you believe that Jeremiah 10:23 means that we are not to obey scripture because God controlls everything we do anyways, than you are mistaken. Im inclined to think his directing our steps would be in righteousness rather than complacency.

Deuteronomy 11:18 Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes. 11:19 And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

But lets not obey scripture so we dont take away from Gods sovereignty.

Romans 11 speaks of a remnant according to the election of grace, which means they are converted Jews and therefore part of the church.

Galatians 6:15 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature. 6:16 And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God.

True Israel is the Church, not a nation of Christ rejecting Jews. It is the saints who are heirs to the promise of Abraham.

Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. 3:29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

The notion of the modern day Israel being a fullfillment of the prophecies has been debunked in other threads.

Thats right Dorcas. If I remember right, 2/3 of the book of Revelation is a reference to the old testament. So, if one wants to inderstand Revelation, one needs to first understand the old testament. Or while we are at it, the other 26 books of the new testament.

They make them gods in their hearts when they bow down and worship them, and pray to them. Christ was quite clear you cannot serve two masters. So with that in mind, Mary, the Pope, and the dead saints are more their god than Jesus.

Matthew 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

Gods word will last forever irregardless of what it is printed on.

Luke 21:33 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

However, I dont think Christ was referring to paper and ink.

Revelation 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Who has the testimony of Jesus Christ but the church?

Also like to add that I have found your posts very informative and thought provoking brother Lurker.

"I am incredibly proud to sign legislation that continues Massachusetts leadership in ensuring that women seeking to access reproductive health facilities can do so safely and without harassment," Patrick said after signing the measure on Wednesday. ...

I like how they dress it up and make it sound all nice. "reproductive health facilities." A more accurate term would be "Infant genocide facilities"
