Yeah well here is the REALLY bad news. The smurfs, including, amazingly, papa Smurf are voting for Clinton as well...only because they live in a blue state.
Isn't this great?? It just proves the Bible is the Word,of God..." In the last days perilous times will come." I guess we better just go into the highways and biways and preach the good news.
I got ya!! Passion is great..so is hermeneutics. I'm trying to be respectful though. The days of the wholesome sports figure are kind of gone unfortunately and I can see where people get upset with that scene, but at the same time there are many good role models, and Christian ones at that, who put Jesus Christ first.
Sc Why would compare watching sports to watching naked people? That's a little weird. Again it's about being a stumbling block right? If we were together hanging out, I wouldn't take you to a game. If you are a vegetarian I wouldn't feed you a steak right? Think about this. Is it okay for a Christian to climb mountains just for the sake of climbing mountains? Would that be worshipping the creature rather than the creator? I check the stocks in the morning because a part of my treasure is there..but not ALL of it. Where's your treasure? I like baseball and racing..I don't worship baseball and racing, and if I ever did I would hope that a fellow believer would bring this to my attention. I'm sure the Holy Spirit would do it first though.
Bunyan had Is. 40:17 and Ecc. 1:2 in mind..vanity of vanity all is vanity. "All nations before him are as nothing; and they are counted to him less than nothing, and vanity." Isaiah 40:17. I will do a study,on the liberty of the believer later because I haven't in a while..and it's very important. But there is a balance. Like I said, it depends on who I'm hanging out with.

After service is another situation altogether though. If a church wants to watch a game after service Is done (a full service and not some sermonette for christianettes) that is fine. " churches" that would shorten the message for the sake of a game..that Pastor stands and falls before God. That is fear and trembling stuff indeed!! That being said though, the greatest command in the New Testament, the great commission, is ignored by 90% of believers. I would rather hear the Lord say, Jeremy you went to those evil games, or drank an occasional beer, but you were obedient to the call to tell others my Good News. Than to hear...Jeremy you stayed away from beer and ball games..but why didn't you tell your dying elderly neighbor about me?
My goodness ( how biblical is that saying? Haha) I forgot about those references. I guess it's one of those situations where if I was hanging out with John and I knew how he felt about these things, and coerced him to go to a game..that would be sin on my part. The same with alcohol, playing a game of cards, watching a movie etc...
I honestly can't think of any verses offhand. But then again Christians WERE IN the competitive arena, unfortunately. Being chased by lions!! I can't find any verses that speak about marijuana use in the NT Scriptures, but wouldn't you say that smoking it would be unbiblical? Please don't confuse Liberty with antinomianism. The NT has. lOT to say about both.

Nothing wrong with Christians watching sports John. As long as sports aren't on the throne of their hearts right? It's part of our liberty in Christ. I hate football myself though. I prefer sports without clocks like baseball and racing.
