A Hardened Heart…As I was reading my devotions the other day, I came across something that I had not noticed before. I was reading Mark chapter six and after Jesus fed the five thousand, I notice something very peculiar. Here Jesus performs this great miracle before the disciples and all the people. Any one of us would be in amazement if we had witnessed something so miraculous. But the peculiar thing is this, the disciples had no reaction to what they saw. As I was reading I stopped for a moment wondering why that was. They saw one of the greatest miracles Christ performed in his earthly ministry and they had no response or reaction? Why? Then I continued to read and found the answer later on in vs. 52. It says “For they considered not the miracles of the loaves: for their heart was hardened”. Wow! What a convicting verse of Scripture. God is telling each of us that we can be blinded to His work because of the hardness of our hearts. It’s true. I have experienced that in my own life. God is trying to do something in our lives. He is trying to teach us something or show us something. He is working right in our midst, and so often we miss what he is doing or teaching. We become confused and afraid when we fail to see God working and those who are blinded will never be synchronized to his work as long as they chose to harbor a hard heart. Has your heart become hard toward God? It certainly is a question we as believers should regularly be asking ourselves. - Pastor Brad Brandon.
