How Sad! Yes, Israel had the advantages, yes, they 'rejected Him', yes, 'they hardened their hearts', and 'they hated Him.' You know before my 'born-again' experience, 'I even hated Him' and the most interesting thing about that truth, He said it first, Jesus said in John 15:18; "If the world hate you, ye know that it hated Me before it hated you"
The word of God is filled with the fact that 'we've all hated Him before we knew Him, and if given the chance in that day we would have all killed Him. Truth be told, we all stand guilty before His Holiness! Romans 3:10-18.
God is not finished with Israel; I am glad our God is immutable, aren't you? Otherwise we'd have no hope.
Great Sermon! How do I comment on this gem of a sermon? It is excellent to the 10th power. It is a 5 star plus teaching. I've never heard justification laid out with such powerful clarity. Justification aka being declared righteous is the crown jewel and essence of Good News. This message quickens and stabs my heart anew with gratitude and awe. Let all the puffed up scholars striving to be creative and original in redefining justification try as they may, they will never steal from me orthodox justification.
Great Sermon! These 4 messages on justification held at conference by Pastor Donnelly have been for me the framework of all the other blessed doctrines of our Lord. I have learned so much more about God through listening to Pastor Donnelly than any other preacher. You bring God great glory and you have my heartfelt thanks.
Great Sermon How do you get your kids to not listen to pop music? My kids play music and they love to listen to current music. I agree it's not good but they'll hear it anyway..
Great Sermon! This series was fantastic. I listen to it before I go and see my unsaved siblings as an additional motivation to try to reach them. After listening to it once, I have never forgotten the overwhelming sense of limited time we all have. Mr. Donnelly also did a 12 part series on Paul that listen to a couple of times a year. I was sorry to hear he had retired due to some health issues.
Great Sermon! This sermon was exceptional! It answered the most profound and secret questions that I have had for years regarding how fair and just God is in relation to those who have never heard of the Bible and of Jesus. It also answered my questions of what to say to people when they ask why Christianity is the only way, in a simple and understandable manner. It gave me a better understanding of what Paul is saying in this passage of Romans 1:18. I highly recommend this message.
Powerful. A powerful and searching message! A very needed, biblical, condemnation of sin. In the biblical perspective of Judgment, the salvation by Christ shines more gloriously.
It's the Application The numerous positive comments here caught my eye, so I listened to this yesterday. A friend of mine, who has visited Grace RBC many times, often hears numerous preachers here in Grand Rapids and says there is just something missing. The missing element is doubtless application.(of course he dearly loves Gary Hendrix) That is why a message like this stands out. I was mowing the lawn today and still thinking over this sermon. The reason is one can't hear this preaching properly and go on without diligent self-examination. No matter how long we have been in the way, we fear self-deception and that is what drives us to Christ and away from self-trust.
Convicting Sermon! I've heard alot of sermons, Paul Washer, John MacArthur and many many others, but this was one of the most convicting messages I've ever heard. Gary Hendrix in my opinion is one of the greatest among the best of them.
