Profound Lecture by a Reformation Expert Dr. Trueman is a truely great scholar of the Reformation period. I think his knowledge of this period is unique -- he has read all of the magisterial reformers in extensio. His comments on Luther, Methanthon, Bullinger, Bucer, Knox, etc. provides the context to understand Calvin in his proper context. You will learn a lot about Calvin and Reformed Theology (not Calvinism -- Trueman's preferred term is Reformed Theology) by listening to this exciting lecture.
Great Sermon! Thank you for this excellent lecture...! To post this comment, I had to type in the number 1977 (the very year that God opened my eyes to the truth of the reformed faith and God's wonderful sovereign grace)!
Great Sermon! Dr. D. Thomas, Thank you for planting sound, solid biblical doctrine on true spirituality in my heart garden. This was quality time spent and wwell worth listening to. Hebrews 6v10 KJV is very fitting for this sermon.
God Bless you!

Rich in information. Very rich material, with much information, covering the Pietism of Spener, the Deism of Herbert of Cherbury, John Locke, David Hume, Thomas Payne, Voltaire, Kant. And a short part about Revivalism. Finishing with Schleiermacher. Many things to learn!
Calvin on the Christian life. Interesting message: a presentation of Calvin's "Institutes" in the light of Calvin's notion of piety; or the "Institutes" as a manual of Christian living.
Interesting lecture. Interesting material about the old presbyterian ideas of educating the child and young men, in opposition with the new accents coming from Finney's conceptions.
