As Paul heads to Jerusalem, Aquila and Priscilla remain behind in Ephesus. A faithful old testament saint, Apollos, is preaching the Old Covenant in accordance with the baptism of John the Baptist. When Aquila and Priscilla hear, they take him aside and declare that the Messiah has come. His desire is then to go back to Corinth and he teaches there and builds up that church. After Paul goes back to the churches that he planted years before , heads to Ephesus, fulfilling the desire to come back to them that he expressed when he left. He asks them if they have received the Holy Spirit, but they had not been brought into the New Covenant, only the Old. They are baptized and have hands laid on them and they receive the Holy Spirit and manifested it by signs. In this passage, we see the continuation of the transition between the Old Covenant and the New Covenant. The believers in the Old Covenant become believers in the New because they already were saved by faith.
