Christ makes peace to the Jew and the Gentile [Horizontal Reconciliation] (Eph. 2:14-15) - Christ Himself is our peace (Is. 9:6) - The Mosaic Law was the dividing wall between Jew and Gentle - like dietary laws (civil laws) - ceremonial system (ceremonial laws) - temple worship - Christ broke this division by His work - we are no longer under these (Heb. 10:8-9; Gal. 3:23-24; Rom. 10:4) - this doesn't mean the moral law is abrogated - the condemnation of the law is abrogated - the purpose is to take these two and make them into one new man, a new creation (Col. 1:13) - we should see true peace in God's church (Col. 3:15)
Christ makes peace between sinners and God [Vertical Reconciliation] (Eph. 2:16-18) - There was an enmity that needed to be put to death - Man has an unholy enmity against God - God has a holy anger against sinners - Christ has produced this reconciliation by His work (Rom. 5:10-11) - Jesus preached the gospel of peace (Eph. 2:17; Is. 57:19)
The result of God the Son's reconciliation is access to God the Father by God the Spirit - Primarily through prayer (Heb. 10:21) - Now God is no longer our judge or executioner but Father
