All of us know what it is like to live with the 'daily grind', the day in, day out struggle with stress, perplexity, opposition, and failures. But how do we keep our passion for Christ burning brightly when experiencing the daily grind. Paul, in 2 Corinthians 4, gives us the answer. We must not only replace faulty view of ministry with a realistic one, but we must also die daily in order to live for Christ. God uses the daily grind to bring us to the end of ourselves in order that we might fully trust in Him. But it is as we are dying daily as living sacrifices that life is communicated to others. Others come to faith in Jesus Christ. But we must do more than die daily in order to live. We must also live by faith, not by feelings. Many today operate on the basis of feelings-- if I feel like doing it, I will. As long as it makes me happy, I will. But spiritual passion is not based on emotions, but on deeply held convictions produced in us by the Spirit of God that enables us to keep going when the going gets tough. Two strong convictions propelled the Apostle Paul: A future resurrection which guarantees our labor is not in vain, and our future presentation, which guarantees our labor will be rewarded. If we are to remain strong we must die to self and live by faith, not feelings.
