Abraham's faith and guidance are repaid in what the servant, taken to be Eliezer, experiences as he travels to seek the Lord's choice for Isaac's wife. He correctly interprets the events that lead to Rebekah offering to water his ten camels. We are surrounded by many events that we need to interpret. Some may be international events. Others are more local events that affect us and our families. We need to be careful we do not interpret events wrongly. The disciples did not see the implications of the death of Christ and were downcast even though He had said He would rise again.
Sometimes our response to events needs to be rejoicing, sometimes repentance, and always prayer. There are lessons to guide us in interpreting events. Our aim must be to be where the servant was in receiving unseen help and being moved to pray according to the will of God. We need to be already doing the will of God so that He can then bless us with particular guidance and help. We need to be ‘in the way' serving Him as best we know how. Our hearts need to be prepared through prayer and consideration of His word.
