Abraham, when considering a wife for Isaac, had limited options. He knew that his son would need a wife for the promise of descendants to be fulfilled. But she was not to come from among the idolatrous Canaanites, nor to be found by returning Isaac to Mesopotamia, away from the Promised Land. Abraham acted on the basis of these limited options and Christians also have to do this. Christians are restricted in the West by a very hostile academic community and by the media who are largely unsympathetic to the gospel. But Abraham was able operate within the limitations imposed upon him and so can we. To that end he was helped by having a trusted companion in his servant who shared his vision. Abraham kept separate from the world. Lastly he had faith and acted in line with that faith.
