More than anything else, this mother wanted to raise her son. Circumstances were against her. The edict of Pharaoh stood like a brick wall. She feared the worst, but she entrusted the matter to God with courageous faith. It turns out she received Moses back, and God paid her wages. She trusted the Lord with all her heart and received a reward. Moses was delivered to be the deliverer. And he was being providentially prepared as his mother taught him the ways of the Lord and as Pharaoh's daughter raised him as the prince of Egypt. Moses' mother had the opportunity to do her best by her son. We are required to do the same! All we can do is do our best by our children. God is at work in the circumstances of your life as well. You may protest that you haven't seen any miracles in your life. But a Christian is a miracle alone by being saved! God is the God of providence who has been at work in all the details of all the circumstances of your life. To have faith is not to do nothing, but rather to do much. People who have faith in God always do much. They do everything that they possibly can. William Carey, a man of faith and a great missionary, said that "we should expect great things from God and attempt great things for God." He did it himself, and so have all who have achieved great victories of faith. Jochebed stands out as one of the greatest mothers in the Bible. Her courageous faith made possible the exodus of God's people from Egypt and changed the course of history. Every child needs a saved, sold out, devoted mother. Nothing would make a greater difference in the lives of our children than godly parents.
