Peter, borrowing from Psalm 34, points out that we as believers in Christ are to love life, see good days, and be filled with praise! We are to be enthusiastic, optimistic, and praise-filled! Such an attitude is the product of fearing the Lord. The fear of the Lord, properly understood, produces within us a strong faith and trust in God's provision and protection, plus a fear of God's disciplinary hand. As a result we will refrain our tongues from evil and our lips from deceit. We will turn away from evil and do good, seek peace and pursue it. When we watch what we say, operate in the realm of truth, avoid sin, concentrate on doing good-- when we aggressively seek to live at peace with all men-- we will experience the abundant life that jesus Christ came to give right now in this present world. We will love life and see good days!
