One of the responsibilities of the church outlined in its vision is the nurture of its members. The Lord Jesus Christ is the source of all nurturing and nourishment in the faith, and the ordinary means of this nurture are the Word, the sacraments, and prayer.
The Word of God becomes effectual and useful to the Christian as it is read and committed to memory; in the diligent attending upon the Word preached; in singing the Psalms; and in the regular use of the Word in private and family worship. The sacraments are both symbolic and experimental in that there is a teaching of doctrine in visible means with an experience of real fellowship. Prayer is the believer's means of communication and confession, and corporate prayer is a means of deep fellowship with the brethren publicly crying out before Lord.
