Here in these amazing verses we find God speaking to His covenant people through the prophet Jeremiah, to tell them of the plans that He had for them. He had plans to continue the captivity of His people for 70 years, and then to bring them back out of it, into their own land and place, once again. During that time, He expected them to conduct themselves as His holy people, and not be rebellious toward Him, or their captors. This has relevance for us here today, in the various situations of captivity which the Lord may bring us into, on account of our sin, or in order to glorify Him, in our obedience to Him. These situations of captivity are not to be seen simply as punishments to be endured by His chosen people. Indeed, our captivity will only seem hopeless as long as we refuse to do what God commands us. The lesson which God would have you to receive from this message is this: If you are one of God’s chosen people, you can find hope in the midst of any situation of captivity that you find yourself in, by trusting in God, and building upon what God says to you in His holy Word. In other words, there are some things that God would have each of us to learn in the midst of any spiritual captivity that we find our spirit oppressed with. Let me open up for you 3 things which God would have you to remember.
