Jesus saw it coming on that Sunday. The people were cheering, but He was crying. As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, He wept over it. He would soon be rejected and crucified. The rejection would lead to destruction 37 years later. The tears of Christ reveal the infinite value of souls. Christ wept and lamented over Jerusalem, as he always weeps over the souls of the unrepentant. He cries over hard hearts who are perishing. Judgment is His strange work. When a loving father spanks his child, it should hurt the father more than the child if the father shares an attribute of his Heavenly Father. What do you think about lost souls? Are you judgmental or tender? If the Christ weeps over the lost, how can we be hard-hearted or half-hearted? We can easily get too wrapped up in ourselves in this hectic world. We must always remember that a lost person is damned and so we must share the gospel when we have the opportunity.
