Aim: To understand what churchmen's priorities in life ought to be.
Exegesis: Priority one: Churchmen need time with their Father. We, like Christ, should give God our best (v. 35a); should concentrate our focus (v. 35b); should interact with heaven (v. 35c). Priority two: Churchmen need to seek our Christ. Jesus is delighted when we desire His presence (v. 36); Jesus is delighted when we extol Him (v. 37). Priority three: Churchmen need to minister in God's world. Preaching is Christ's means of converting sinners (v. 28) and edifying saints (v. 39).
Key verse: v. 35 ''Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, [Jesus] went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed.''
