Jesus' words in this section are certainly applicable. But you totally miss the point of Jesus' words if the only thing you hear is that you should not worry. Yes, worry is a sin. We need to repent of the sin of worry. But even Dr. Phil or Oprah could tell you that worry is not good. You might even learn some techniques for dealing with stress in watching their programs. Jesus words are far more powerful and meaningful than just techniques for relieving stress, anxiety, and worry. Rather Jesus directs you to focus on your Father's care and provision. Jesus again stresses that all those who follow Him must seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness. Jesus does not promise a life of ease or pleasure or endless provision of all that you want, but He does set before you true joy and purpose when you live in right relationship with your Heavenly Father.
