New Heart, New Spirit_16PT1Ezekiel 20:1-26 Being a true minister of God is difficult because we live in a depraved and corrupt world. The world is full of selfish, covetous, immoral, lawless, and violent people who prefer to continue in their wicked lifestyle rather than repent and obey the LORD.If there was ever a minister who had a difficult calling, it was Ezekiel. This bible study will talk about Seven Lessons from Israel's History of Rebellion.Three lessons will be talked about in PT1 and 4 lessons in Pt2.Ch 20 is about Acting out Physical messages of Judgment. What does it mean if history repeats itself?A Proverb says, history repeats itself. Things that have happened in the past will or tend to happen again in one way or another. What a sad picture of generation after generation disobeying the LORD. A pattern of disobedience is bound to break God's heart, for disobeying His commandments dooms people. And the one thing God never wants to happen is for people to lose their souls. For when we lose our souls, we are doomed to eternal separation from God. We will never be allowed to enter the promised land of heaven. We will be barred, shut out from God's presence.During Israel's wilderness wanderings, God didn't severely punish His people for their rebellion because He wanted to honor His name before the Gentiles 20:14, 22, 44; but now He would honor His name by burning their city and temple and sending them into exile.Although they would be conquered by the nations He had appointed as His agents of judgment, God would have mercy upon those who truly repented and would bring them back from their exile.
