Theme: Be assured that repentance and faith in Jesus is the only way into the kingdom. In vv. 24-27, Jesus affirms John. John was faithful to boldly speak the truth of God. We need to be careful who we listen to for spiritual teaching and make sure they are truly teaching the truth of God's Word. In v. 28, Jesus assures the crowd that John was a true prophet who spoke the truth of God. Although John readied the people for God's kingdom, we as Christians today get to fully realize the greatness of our salvation since we live after the time of Christ's death and resurrection for us. We need to value the greatness of our salvation! In vv. 29-30, we see the crowd is divided in their thoughts on Jesus. We need to agree with God, not the surrounding culture. As believers in an ever changing world and culture around us, we need to know that God, His Truth, and His Way, do not change. Though doubts may creep in, we need to fight those with eternal truth.
